Attention, aspiring
singers and songwriters: Jason Blume, who has written for the likes of
Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys, has boiled down the intricacies
of the music industry to a handful of basics that practically guarantee
fame and fortune.
Here is Blume's advice,
according to his book "6 Steps to Songwriting Success":
- Make friends with
songwriters.
- Date publishers.
- Marry a recording
artist, preferably Grammy-nominated.
- Have a hot, torrid
affair with a record producer.
- Divorce the person
you're married to, and marry the head of a record label.
- Repeat steps 1
to 5 as necessary.
